with our goings on the past week and a half!?? We have been pretty darn busy!!! Sunday the 19th my dad came into town for the week to celebrate Mackenzie's 5th birthday!! ( I sooo cannot believe I have a 5 year old!!!!!)
Unfortunately we were all under the weather as well as our actual weather was yucky on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. For the most part, we were pretty inactive those rainy days. One great highlight from being home those days...Taylor decided on Sunday that she wanted to start using the big girl potty and wear panties!! Yipee!! She has done fantastic! We obviously have had a few accidents, but for the most part she has done really well. She picked out Dora and Elmo panties...her little tush is so tiny in the panties, but soo cute!!!
Mackenzie's actual birthday was Wednesday, the 22nd. We had a nice day which started with opening a few gifts. She then decided she wanted to go to the mall for the day so we walked around a bit, ate lunch, and I bought her a princess nightgown from the Disney Store. That night we went out to dinner and then she opened the rest of her gifts (Scooter, Disney watch, American Girl Baby carrier to name a few)
Steve was able to take Thursday off work, and our original plan was to go to Geauga Lake (an amusement/water park in one) but we opted not too as we were all still not 100% healthy (In fact we even got Dad sick too :( ) Instead, we went up to the botanical gardens in cleveland and had a nice time (although hot!) walking around and had a nice lunch.
Thursday evening was open house at Mackenzie's Kindergarten where we got to go and see her school and meet her teacher! She is in the red room with Mrs. Luikart and she is sooo sweet so I am confident my baby girl will be in good hands!!!
Friday we took care of some errands, and preparation for Mackenzie's party on Sunday.
Saturday was Mackenzie's first Soccer game/practice!!!! She has been so excited to start soccer and looked so cute in her little uniform!!! The kindergarten teams only play on Saturday, so no practices during the week, which is nice. She did a great job and enjoyed it, so maybe this will be something she will continue...we shall see!!!
Saturday night Steve, Mackenzie, and I went to see the Lion King at the Cleveland Playhouse Square....it was Fantastic!!!!! Mackenzie was on the edge of her seat the whole time and really enjoyed it!!!!!
And then Sunday our church had a blessing for all the kids going into Kindergarten, and then we came home for a princess tea party with 6 little girls plus our two!!! It was quite an experience :) The girls were all dressed up and had a really good time!
And tomorrow is the Big Day............the 1st day of Kindergarten!!!! This has been an emotional week with Mackenzie turning 5 and going off to school!!!! It truely seems like I was just bringing her home from the hospital (all 7 lbs, 14 oz of her) and wondering how I was going to do as a mom, wanting only the best for my baby.
Well, here we are in the blink of an eye, 5 years old and 47 pounds!!!!! She is sooo ready for Kindergarten and cannot wait to get on that bus tomorrow. I am so excited and nervous and a little sad too to see her get on that school bus!
As promised from several weeks ago, here are some of the pictures I took of the girls in our backyard. These are Mackenzie's "official" 5 year pics and Taylors 2 1/2 year.
I have a ton of pics from the last week I will upload later!! (Also, for my birthday I finally got my lens I wanted for my camera.....the Tamron 18-200mm and I love it!)
