Well we are pretty much all thawed out from all of our snow. It is almost all gone other than a few piles left from the snow plows and shoveling. I feel a little bit of spring in the air (or maybe it is just really wishful thinking) but we actually have had a litttle bit of sunshine and a few days in low 50's and upper 40's. I know that is far from warm, but it is a bit scary just how excited I can get when the temperature for the day does not start with a 1, 2 or a 3!!!! Today it is a bit rainy, but hopefully that is a sign that spring is upon us. The girls are definitley ready and itching to go outside and play! And we all know I AM READY!!! I love living here, and I love the seasons, but it is such a privelege to have lived in a climate where you can take your kids out to play almost every day. So, with that said PLEASE COME SPRING!!
On another note, today Taylor and I went to the Y for her swimming and music class. She is going to move up from the pre-pike to the preschool swimming class next session! She is doing really well with it and loves to go swim! We went to music class and her little friend Reese's birthday is today. Sunday we went to her birthday party at the same place Taylor had hers and had a blast! Though Taylor may be little, the girl can climb and definitely keep up with the big kids.
Reese is the little girl whose mom died just over a month ago. It breaks my heart still every time I see her as 1, she looks just like her mom, and 2, you can just see the sadness in the poor girls' eyes. It amazes me the intuitiveness of a three year old. At one point during the party, Taylor asked me where Reese's mommy was. I told her she was up in Heaven with Jesus. She asked why she was there and I said because Jesus needed her there. She said okay and then ran off to play. It made me sad to have to explain that to her, but that was all the explanation she needed. This family has such a long road ahead of them, and I met the whole family at the party and they are just such wonderful people.
Another update as well on my friend that has Breast Cancer. She had her 1st surgery the end of February and there was good news and bad. The cancer is not in her limphnodes, but they also didnt get it all out when they did the first surgery. She is having another surgery today to go in and make sure all the tumor gets removed. Originally they thought she may just need radiation, but now they think she needs both chemo and radiation. She so wanted it just to be over, and now unfortunately has a long road ahead of her. She could use lots of prayers.
On a lighter note, we had Mackenzie's parent/teacher conference last Thursday and were so please with how she is doing. I know we are all proud of our children, but it sure made us feel good when her teacher said she is a joy to have in class and is progressing so well. Her teacher said she is so pleased with how much Mackenzie's reading and writing skills have progressed even in the past month. They are taught to sound out words and write them out, writing sentences, and even short stories. Some of the word she showed us were quite amusing, but for the most party she can spell alot of words! They are learning basic addition and subtraction, as well as learning to count money. Her teacher said she is so ready for first grade and has such a brightness about her! We are proud parents!!!!!
Next week is spring break, and we are hoping to fill most of the week with playdates! There is also no school this Friday for Good Friday, so we are meeting up with the Cleveland girls to go to a Young Chefs place where the kids will get to make their own lunch!! Looking forward to that! We are having a mellow Easter this year, just us and Oma.
